The past week has been really cold here and while I have done my best to avoid going outside my dog Avery has been thrilled with the weather and has loved getting out as much as possible. I managed to get these couple of photos of him happily hanging out on the porch in the frigid temperatures in the snow. They aren’t great quality as the light was poor and I took the photo through the window. Right now I wouldn’t mind having a big thick coat like his.

I finished “Julius” this evening. He is acrylic on watercolour paper and is ACEO size, 2.5 x 3.5 inches. I think he is part fox and part dog – he certainly looks to have a bit of a cunning disposition. Julius has been sold.

Lately I have been into painting a lot of dogs of different shapes and colors. This guy reminds me of a very large yellow lab, hence the title Big Yellow Dog. It is acrylic on canvas, and measures 6 x 6 inches. This painting has been sold.
A Bear and Two Dogs

Here are some paintings that I have been working on over the past few days. The first two are ACEOs so they measure 2.5 x 3.5 inches and the third one is on stretched canvas and measures 6 x 6 inches. They have all been completed in acrylic paint. I started out each of these paintings applying paint to the canvas in an abstract manner, completely unplanned. I continued to apply paint in this way until I saw an image in the paint and then I further developed the image from there until the final painting emerged. It is always really interesting to work on paintings in this manner since I never know what I will end up with. Each of these paintings have been sold.
